Trevecca | Forehand, Carter, Johnson, Reed to Join Hall of Fame

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene University will add four members to its Athletic Hall of Fame at a new hall of fame dinner set for April of 2016. The 2016 class is one of the most decorated groups in the history of the hall of fame. Brittany Johnson Tate (softball), Mariska Reed Harris (basketball), Katie Carter Douglas (volleyball), and Jeff Forehand will be inducted into the 2016 class.
 
With these four additions, the Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame, which was started in 1993, will have 64 members.
 
Yet to be announced are two meritorious service selections.
 
BRITTIANY JOHNSON TATE
Brittiany Johnson Tate (VIDEO) Hall of Fame Surprise Announcement
 
Brittiany Johnson Tate played for the Trevecca softball program for three years after transferring from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The Pulaski, Tenn. native is a product of Richmond High School. 
 
Johnson is a three-time NAIA All-American. Johnson was a standout hitter and pitcher for some of Trevecca's best softball teams. At the time of her graduation she held the career record for home runs and RBI in the batting category and in the circle she held the record for wins (116), innings pitched (838.1), strikeouts (1186), complete games (78), and appearances (159). She also held seven season records including RBI (66) and wins (42).

As a junior she produced a 42-7 record with 339 strikeouts in 267.1 innings pitched.
 
As a senior Johnson was 39-6 with a .74 earned run average in the circle. She struck out 397 in 285.2 innings pitched. At the plate she hit .446 with 23 doubles.
 
On 13 occasions in three years she was the TranSouth Pitcher of the Week. She was the NAIA Region XI Pitcher of the Week nine times and NAIA National Pitcher of the Week twice. She was the NAIA Region XI and TranSouth Pitcher of the Year all three seasons. Over the same time period, she was first team NAIA Region XI and TranSouth selections three times. As a sophomore Johnson was the TranSouth Newcomer of the Year. 
 
MARISKA REED HARRIS
 
Mariska Reed Harris played at Trevecca from 2004 through 2008. Her freshman season, 2004-2005 produced a 21-10 season and an NAIA Elite Eight appearance. Her next two teams also reached the Elite Eight and her senior season resulted in an appearance in the NAIA National Championship game. Her four teams combined to win 103 games with only 34 losses. Her sophomore year the team finished 31-5.
 
In 2005 she was named to the TranSouth All-Freshmen team. In 2006 she made the TranSouth All-Tournament team and earned the first of three appearances on the TranSouth Scholar-Athlete team. In 2007 her awards included designation as an honorable mention selection to the NAIA All-American team, first team all-conference selection in the TranSouth, and the first of two years on the NAIA Scholar-Athlete team. As a senior in 2008 Reed repeated all of her junior year major awards and added all-tournament select to the NAIA Championships and TranSouth Championships.
 
Reed finished her TNU career first in career made free throws, games played, and consecutive games played as well as second in points (1719) and steals (273).
 
She averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in her career. She averaged 33.1% from three point range and 81.6 percent from the foul line.
 
Reed scored 1719 points, grabbed 551 rebounds, dished out 366 assists, collected 273 steals, and blocked 44 shots. She connected on 169 three-point baskets in her career.
 
She averaged a career-high 14.1 points per game in her junior and senior seasons. Her rebound (4.9 per game) and assists (3.1 per game) totals peaked during her senior season while her top steals (2.4 per game) came in her junior season. 
 
Mariska is married to former Trojan basketball player Chris Harris.
 
KATIE CARTER DOUGLAS
 
Katie Carter Douglas played volleyball at Trevecca for three seasons (2001, 2002, 2003) after transferring from Samford University. Katie played her high school volleyball for Father Ryan and legendary coach Jinx Cockerham. At Trevecca Carter played for the late Scott Jones and was a key member of three Trojans volleyball teams.
 
Carter finished with terrific career numbers despite only playing at Trevecca for three years. Carter's career numbers include; 982 kills, 3.43 kills per game, .371 attack percentage, 1263 points, 4.42 points per game, 402 blocks, 1.42 blocks per game, 312 block assists. 
 
She ended her career first in block assists and second in blocks per game, points per game, attack percentage, and kills per game.
 
She set the TNU season record for points (739.5), block assists (165), and blocks per game (1.37). All those marks were set in the 2002 season.
 
Other Notable Items
First TNU NAIA Honorable Mention All-American (2002) in volleyball.
Led the team to the NAIA Region XI tournament all three seasons.
Three-time NAIA Region XI First Team selection (2001, 2002, 2003).
Three-time TranSouth All-Conference First team (2001, 2002, 2003).
Three-time TranSouth Scholar-Athlete (2001, 2002, 2003).
TranSouth All-Tournament team (2001).
Led TranSouth in Attack Percentage (.341) in 2002.

Jeff Forehand was hired by former Trevecca athletic director Alan Smith to take over the Trojan baseball program in 2001. In six seasons the former Goodpasture coach and Belmont College baseball player led Trevecca to 211 wins. He took over a program that had just one winning season since 1994 and produced four winning seasons and three of the program's six 40-win seasons. His 2005 team set the record for most wins in a season with 47 and were 47-16.
 
His teams produced 10 NAIA All-Americans and 10 NAIA Region XI First Team selections.
 
He was named the NAIA Region XI Coach of the Year in 2004. That 2004 team achieved the highest ranking for a Trevecca athletic team when they reached No. 4 in the NAIA Rankings.
 
The 2005 team took home the TranSouth regular season and tournament titles and made the NAIA Region XI tournament for the first time.
 
In 2006 the team reached the NAIA Region XI Championship game and another 42 wins.
 
His teams averaged 35.2 wins per season.
 
Additionally, his six years produced 26 first or second team TranSouth all-conference selections and five players advanced to the professional ranks.
