Trevecca Women's Basketball | Rally for 8th Straight Win Behind Felker's 28 @ Alderson-Broaddus

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Trevecca (15-9, 12-2 G-MAC) won for the eighth straight time, 109-98, at Alderson Broaddus University (7-18, 4-11 G-MAC) to stay a game back of first-place Cedarville in the G-MAC regular season standings. Trevecca had six players reach double-figures in scoring, Haley Felker (SR/Kingston Springs, TN) led the way with 28 points after hitting 7-of-12 from three-point range.

 

Trevecca returns to Nashville for its final two regular season games, Thursday at 6 p.m. versus Ohio Valley University (6-16, 5-8 G-MAC) and Saturday at 2 p.m. versus Salem International University (0-26, 0-14 G-MAC).

 

Thursday will be Military Appreciation night as a local color guard will perform between games and a military band will play along side a vocalist for the Star Spangled Banner prior to the men's game. A student-athlete will perform patriotic selections during the halftime of the men's game. All military personnel and their families can attend free of charge. Be sure to wear red, white, and blue or wear something to support your favorite branch of the military.

Trevecca fell behind early, as they did in Thursday's win at Davis & Elkins, and just as they did against the Senators, the Trojans rallied for the win in the second half.

 

The Battlers doubled up Trevecca with a 14-7 start and pushed the lead to 10 (29-19) with 11:07 remaining in the half. The ABU lead swelled to 16 (42-26) with 7:22 left to the break. Megan Kilburn (SO/Summertown, TN) scored on a layup with 4:10 to go and capped a 13-3 run that pulled the Trojans to within six (45-39) of the Battlers. ABU built the lead to double-digits again and lead by nine (59-50) at the half.

 

Trevecca cut the lead to five (64-59) with 15:39 remaining in the game, but ABU established a double-digit lead again, leading by 13 (72-69) with 13:47 to go.

 

With 11:46 left on the clock, Alderson Broaddus still held a 13-point (80-67) lead over the Trojans. Senior Christina Curtner (SR/Chapel Hill, TN) started a run for the Trojans with a layup and Morgan Long (SO/Summertown, TN) followed the Curtner score with a three-pointer.

 

Trevecca continued to pull away and eventually owned a double-digit lead and settled for an 11-point (109-98) victory. Trevecca outscored Alderson-Broaddus 59-39 in the second half.

 

The run continued until the Trojans took a four-point lead (90-86) with 6:22 to go. Haley Felker capped the run with one of her seven three-pointers. The three capped a personal 8-0 run by Felker.

 

Christina Curtner just missed a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Helen Mitchner (JR/Mt. Juliet, TN) (13), Sarah Raby (SO/Lynchburg, TN) (12), Morgan Long (11), and Megan Kilburn (11) all reached double figure scoring for the Trojans.

 

Trevecca shot 48% (38-79) from the field, 39% (11-28) from three-point range, and 76% (22-29) from the foul line.

 

Kaitlyn Rohlfing led the Battlers with 26 while the battlers shot 43% (33-77) from the field, 43% (15-35) from three-point range, and 81% (17-21) from the foul line.

 

Trevecca outrebounded Alderson-Broaddus 50-41 and each team handled the ball well turning it over just nine (TNU) and 10 (ABU) times.

 

Trevecca outscored ABU 42-30 in the paint and TNU's bench topped ABU's 46-34.
