HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The 12th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team (3-1) sent visiting Trevecca Nazarene University (1-4) home 0-2 in the UAH Classic with a 85-78 on Saturday evening at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.  

Trevecca returns to action following the Thanksgiving Holiday when they host 1-0 McKendree University on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 4 PM. Trevecca hosts UAH again on the Nov. 30th at 7 PM.

Trevecca and Huntsville are now tied 7-7 all-time with a tiebreaker coming on November 30th at 7 PM at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

A 10-0 run, that lasted about three minutes, late in the first half helped the Chargers push out to a 12-point advantage at 35-23. Over the final three minutes of the half Trevecca answered with a 9-0 run to cut the Charger lead to three (35-32) at the half.

Trevecca cut the Huntsville lead to just one at 41-40 by the 17:17 mark of the second half. The Chargers went 8-for-8 from the field in a five-minute stretch that pushed their lead to again 12. The Chargers built their lead to as many as 16 points before TNU pulled back within single digits but no closer than six down the stretch.

Huntsville shot 55.8 percent from the field and 9-for-18 from beyond the arc, while the Trojans connected on 43.1 percent of their attempts with Byron Sanford (SR/Louisville, KY) scoring a team-best 25 points.

The Chargers had 41 rebounds compared to 28 for TNU, and UAH outscored the Trojans in the paint by a 38-20 clip.

Byron Sanford led the Trojans with 25 and added five rebound, five assists, and two steals. Matt Gamberoni (SR/Mulhouse, France) scored 12 and had four rebound, a block, and two steals. Jalen Palm (SR/Louisville, KY) led the team with seven assists. Tyrell Corlew (SR/Louisville, KY) scored 16 and had four assists. Jacob Williams (SO/Lebanon, TN) scored 12.
