Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cedarville University (6-16, 4-6 G-MAC) held on to defeat Trevecca Nazarene University (7-15, 4-7 G-MAC) 78-74 Saturday afternoon in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's basketball game at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Brian Grant recorded a double-double with a team-high 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to lead the Yellow Jackets. Austin Pickett and Easton Bazzoli each tallied 15 points while Marcus Reineke rounded out the double-figure scoring efforts with 11.

David Woodard tallied a season-high 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 9-of-13 at the free throw line to lead Trevecca. Nick Drake scored 15 points and had four steals while Taylor Clay totaled 10 points and five rebounds.

In the first half, the Trojans had a pair of early leads before the Yellow Jackets got a jumper from Pickett which gave CU a 9-8 lead with 15:18 to go.

After a pair of Mac Walden free throws brought the score to 23-18 Cedarville, the Yellow Jackets would go on a 8-2 run to go up double-digits (31-20) for the first time in the opening half.

Cedarville would maintain that double-digit lead and took a 47-31 lead into the break. Bazzoli led CU with 12 points at the break.

Almost six minutes into the second half, Cedarville got its biggest lead (57-35) after two free throws from Reineke.

Over the next 13 minutes, the Trojans would out-score the Yellow Jackets 38-17 and cut the deficit to just one (74-73) after two free throws from Clay with 49 seconds left.

CU's J.C. Faubion converted a free throw on the next possession to put the visitors from Ohio back up two, 75-73.

With a chance to tie or take the lead with 47 seconds left, Drake missed a layup on the next possession but CU's Pickett turned the ball over after the miss allowing TNU another opportunity.

Trevecca would be unable to tie the game as Woodard was called for a traveling violation with 26 ticks left.

TNU converted 24 Cedarville turnovers into 24 points and had a 17-0 fast-break points advantage. The Yellow Jackets' bench outscored Trevecca's 31-17.

The Trojans return to action Feb. 20 at Alderson Broaddus University (16-5, 9-1 G-MAC) for a 6:15 p.m. start time. The Battlers defeated Trevecca 72-52 back on Jan. 9.
