Box Score VIENNA, W.Va. - Trevecca (4-4, 2-0 G-MAC) won for the third consecutive time with a 88-50 win at Ohio Valley University (0-7, 0-2 G-MAC) on Saturday at the Snyder Activity Center.
Trevecca will step out of conference action for a non-conference game at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. on Friday, December 13. Trevecca is 0-2 all-time versus Bellarmine, having lost to the Knights 72-60 Nov. 25 and 77-67 a year ago on Dec. 21 in Louisville. Trevecca returns home on Monday, December 15 when they host nationally–ranked Lewis University at the Trojan Fieldhouse for a 6 p.m. game. It will be the first meeting between the Lewis Flyers and Trevecca in women's basketball.
Trevecca is now 3-0 all-time against the OVU Scots. The teams will meet again when the Scots visit Nashville on Feb. 26, 2015.
Kylie White (JR/Clarksville, TN) returned to the lineup and came off the bench to score 17 points. White hit all eight of her shots from the field and her only free throw attempt. Trevecca's bench outscored the Scots bench 53-1.
Coach Gary Van Atta was pleased again with his bench scoring, "We picked up 51 points from our bench and that says a lot about our depth. It was good to not only have Kylie White back, but leading the way with the scoring. Our depth was clearly the difference in the game."
As a team Trevecca shot 56% (34-61) from the field, 45% (9-20) from three-point range, and hit 61% (11-18) from the foul line. Trevecca had the edge in rebounding 44-36. Trevecca dished out a 21 assists.
Van Atta continued, "We shot the ball well and as you can see we shared the ball with 21 assists. We are beginning to come together offensively and continued to play as a tough defensive team."
OVU led 6-4 with 17:06 to go in the half, but the Trojans quickly turned that around with a 10-0 run to go up 14-6 following a Morgan Long (SO/Summertown, TN) three-pointer with 13:37 to go in the half.
The Trojans led 16-10 with 12:29 to go in the half, but took a 16-point lead (28-12) following a Paige Baugher (JR/Mt. Juliet, TN) three-pointer that capped a 12-2 run. The Trevecca lead remained 16 (42-26) at the half.
A steady performance by the Trojans in the second half pushed the lead to 30 (67-37) with 10:41 to go and the Trojans eventually led by as many as 42 (86-44) before settling for the 38-point win 88-50.
Paige Baugher added double figure scoring with 11 points. In all 11 Trojans scored in the game. Briana McDonald (SO/Tullahoma, TN) added a team-high six rebounds to go with her six points. Christina Curtner (SR/Chapel Hill, TN) scored six and added four rebounds and a team-high five assists. Kaci Britt Bell (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN) had eight points, five rebounds, two steals, a block, and two assists. Haley Felker (SR/Kingston Springs, TN) hit both of her three-point attempt to finish with six points and three rebounds.
TNU had the edge in several enhanced scoring areas including a 20-2 edge in points scored off of turnovers. Trevecca had 15 offensive rebounds and turned them in to 24 points for a 24-9 edge in scoring off second chance opportunities.
