Women's Basketball | Bellarmine Completes Season Sweep of Trevecca

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Trevecca women's basketball team (4-5, 2-0 G-MAC) dropped an 80-70 decision at Bellarmine University (5-1) Saturday afternoon at Knights Hall. The win gives the Knights the season sweep of the Trojans.
 
The Trojans return home Monday night to host Lewis University (7-0) at 6 p.m. The Flyers are ranked #2 in the NCAA Division II women's college basketball poll. 
 
Saturday's game at Bellarmine was a physical contest that resulted in 51 total fouls called, with the two teams combining to attempt 70 free throws.
 
Christina Curtner (SR/Chapel Hill, TN) posted a double-double to lead the way for Trevecca, scoring 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds. Curtner went 2-for-4 from 3-point range and added two assists and two steals. Helen Mitchner (JR/Mt. Juliet, TN) added 11 points off the bench for the Trojans. Mitchner shot just 1-for-7 from the floor, including 1-of-5 from 3-point range, but went 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Kaci Britt Bell (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN) chipped in 10 points on 5-for-12 shooting, and added seven rebounds and three steals.
 
Whitney Hartlage paced four Knights in double figures with a game-high 27 points. The sophomore from Louisville, Ky., knocked down 7-of-14 shots from the floor, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, and added six rebounds and five assists. 
 
Trevecca shot 35.6% (21-of-59) from the field, 21.1% (4-of-19) from 3-point range, and 85.7% (24-of-28) from the free throw line. Bellarmine shot 33.3% (21-of-63) from the floor, 30.8% (8-of-26) from 3-point range, and 71.4% (30-of-42) from the charity stripe. The Knights finished with a 49-43 rebounding edge, including 22-13 on the offensive glass, and each team finished with 15 turnovers.
