CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Cedarville University (20-8) used timely three-point shots in the second half to pull away from Trevecca Nazarene (11-17) winning 70-59 to clinch the inaugural Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Championship.

Austin Foote scored a team-high 17 points and had three assists while Zach Brown added 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Marcus Reineke added 10 points and was 5-for-5 at the free throw line.

Trevecca was led by senior JP Nyadaro who scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.  Nick Drake added 13 points and two steals while Peyton Henry added 10 points connecting on 3-of-8 shots including two 3-pointers.

In the first half, Cedarville would use the three-point and free throw line to extend its lead.  The Yellow Jackets hit 4-of-9 from downtown and were 7-of-9 from the free throw line.

Austin Foote was a perfect 6-6 from the field including two 3-pointers scoring 14 points.  Marcus Reineke was 5-fo-5 from the foul line and Briant Grant contributed six points and grabbed three rebounds.

After a Maliek Daniels three-pointer brought the score to 16-13 Cedarville, the host school would run off seven straight to go up 10.

Trevecca cut it to another three-point deficit (23-20) but Cedarville would close the first half with a 12-2 run to go up 35-22 at the break.

Trevecca couldn't find the same offense as it did a day earlier against Central State in the first 20 minutes of play.  TNU shot 8-of-25 (32%) from the field and was just 1-of-7 (14.3%) from three-point range.  J.P. Nyadaro led the scoring efforts for the Trojans scoring 10 points and grabbing four rebounds.

In the second half, TNU would rally to open the first four minutes with a 13-3 run to cut the deficit to 38-35 following a Nyadaro and-one opportunity.

Again though, the Yellow Jackets would go on another run to go up 10.  A three-pointer and layup from Daniel Hickman and a jumper from Caleb Maxwell put CU back up 10 (45-35) with just under 15 minutes remaining.

The closest the Trojans would get the rest of the way would be seven points (52-45) following a Peyton Henry layup with 6:41 remaining.

Cedarville would hit another run, this time on three straight three-pointers to go back up 62-49 and put the game away. As a team, CU was 8-of-18 (44.4%) from the three-point line during the game.

TNU couldn't match its three-point shooting from a night ago against Central State. After hitting 50% last night, the Trojans finished just 5-of-20 (25%).  They were 22-of-57 (38.6%) overall. 

Cedarville was efficient throughout the game hitting 52.3% (23-of-44) and out-rebounded the Trojans 35-25.

The loss ends Trevecca's season with an 11-17 record and runners-up in the G-MAC Tournament.

It was the final game for seniors Marquise Rudolph, Daniels, Henry and Nyadaro.
