25th Anniversary of 1987 NAIA Men's Basketball Team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On February 4, 2012, Trevecca will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first TNU men's basketball team to reach the NAIA Men's Basketball Championships in Kansas City, Mo.

The 1987 Trojans, coached by Trevecca Hall of Famer Frank Wilson, set numerous records on their way to the final, 32-team tournament at Kemper Arena in Kansas City.

At the 1987 NAIA Championships, Trevecca defeated Wayland Baptist 82-68 in the first round. In the second round Trevecca defeated St. Mary's 73-68 to advance to the round of eight. In the quarterfinals the Trojans fell to Georgetown College 81-66.

After starting 7-3, the team won 21 in a row before finally losing in the NAIA quarterfinals. The team won all 17 homes games during the season.
