Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. - The Trevecca women's basketball team (10-18, 6-10 TranSouth) saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 73-68 loss to Martin Methodist (18-12, 7-9).
The Redhawks scored the game's first seven points and led throughout the majority of the first half, before
Haley Felker's three-pointer with 3:54 left in the half put the Trojans ahead 31-30. But a 6-2 spurt by Martin Methodist gave the Redhawks a 36-33 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.
Trevecca fought back to tie the game at 41 on a bucket by
Anissa Ragland with 15:21 remaining, but the Redhawks responded with a 7-0 spurt over the next 1:38 to take a 48-41 lead with 13:43 left. The lead would grow as large as 13 points, at 58-45 with 10:17 left in the game. But the Trojans continued to battle, rallying late before falling short in the end.
Ragland led four Trojans in double figures with 19 points and added nine rebounds and five blocks.
Anna Mitchell scored 14 and grabbed six rebounds, while
Rachel Raby and
Kayla Biles added 10 points apiece. Raby also grabbed eight rebounds, while Biles chipped in four rebounds and a team-high five assists.
The Trojans shot just 30% (26-88) from the field, and made just 2-of-19 shots (11%) from three-point range. Trevecca did shoot 82% from the line for the game, making 14-of-17 shots from the charity stripe. Martin Methodist shot 31% (26-84) from the floor, 32% (6-19) from beyond the arc, and 71% (15-21) from the free throw line.
