NASHVILLE – Trevecca (2-9) battled No. 4 Alabama-Huntsville (7-1) but the Chargers held off the Trojans rally to win 80-66. UAH swept the season series with the win, but Trevecca still leads the all-time series 5-2.

Trevecca opened the game with a  three-point basket from senior Marquise Rudolph, but the rest of the first half witnessed visiting Alabama-Huntsville slowly build a lead. A 7-0 run put Huntsville up 7-3 and then when Trevecca closed the gap to one on a couple of occasions, but the Charger lead grew to 10 points (23-13) with a 12-3 run. With 2:49 remaining in the half the Chargers held their largest lead at 12 points (27-15). Trevecca began a 12-1 run that would last until the 18:31 mark of the second half when the Trojans trailed just 28-27.

It was then that Charger Ronnie Mack hit the first of his seven second-half three-point baskets. Rudolph answered with his own three-point basket to make it 31-30 UAH with 17:36 remaining, one of five he would hit in the game, to hold the line. The trouble was that Mack would hit four more three pointers before the Trojans could answer again. The result was a 43-30 UAH lead with 14:52 remaining. After a Maliek Daniels field goal the visitors handed off the hot hand to Wayne Dedrick who hit a pair of three pointers and a free throw around a Jaime Smith layup and free throw to push the Charger lead to 21 (53-32) with 12:35 remaining. Smith added two more field goals for a 25 point (57-32) lead with 11:15 remaining. In all it was a 26-2 run over 6:16 of game time.

It looked as if the Trojan were done, but they put together another surge that resulted in cutting the 25 point lead to just 11 (59-48) with 8:12 remaining. The 16-2 run was helped by four three-pointers; two from Rudolph and one a piece from Taylor Ward and Peyton Henry. Trevecca would be within 11 again just once, that was with 4:19 remaining when the Trojans trailed 69-59. The Chargers held off the Trojans for a 80-66 final.

Marquise Rudolph led the Trojans with 27 points hitting 8-of-13 from the field, 5-of-7 from beyond the arc, and all six free throws. Rudolph added three rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Peyton Henry scored 17 with three assists and two steals. JP Nyadaro scored nine and had seven rebounds and a team-high four assists. Maliek Daniels had a team-high nine rebounds and two blocks. Ronnie Mack scored 23 points for the Chargers while Jaime Smith collected 20 points.

UAH had the advantage of 26-20 for points in the paint and 23-5 for points scored off the bench. Trevecca's biggest edge was 14-10 in points scored on the fast break. UAH had a 32-29 rebounding edge.

Both teams scorched the nets in the second half. The Chargers shot 17-25 (68%) from the field, 9-12 (75%) from three point range, and the same from the foul line. Trevecca hit 15-29 (52%), 8-13 (42%) from three-point range, and all eight of their free throw attempts.

For the game TNU was 40% (23-57) from the field, 42% (10-24) from three-point range, and 83% (10-12) from the foul. Line. UAH hit 51% (27-53), 54% (14-26), and 75% (12-16) in the same categories.
