NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene men's basketball (1-3) lost 66-59 at NCAA Dll #3 Alabama-Huntsville (3-1) on Saturday before a crowd of 1,234 at Spragins Hall.

The Chargers jumped out to a 12-2 start over the first seven minutes of the game. Trevecca cut the lead to five, but UAH pulled ahead by 15 (34-19) with 1:39 remaining in the half. Marquise Rudolf and Maliek Daniels scored a pair of field goals to close the gap to 11 (34-23) at the break.

Trevecca continued its run to start the second half scoring the first three points cutting the UAH lead to eight (34-26) with a 7-0 run. Trevecca continued the pressure and cut the Charger lead to five (37-32) when JP Nyadaro laid in a basket with 16:07 remaining. With 12:20 to go TNU cut the UAH lead to just three (40-37) when Rudolph buried a three-pointer.  The third-ranked Chargers pushed their lead to eight again (47-39) at 10:05 and again led by eight (49-41) with 8:18 to go. Trevecca outscored Alabama-Huntsville 11-3 over the next three minutes and tied the game at 52 with 5:13 remaining. The Chargers held the Trojans scoreless for the next two and half minutes and pulled ahead 57-52. Trevecca cut the lead to two (60-58) with 1:24 to go, but could get no closer and UAH won by seven 66-59.

Marquise Rudolph led four Trojans in double figures with 22 points. Peyton Henry (16), Maliek Daniels (11) and JP Nyadaro (10) all joined Rudolph in double figures. Nyadaro had a team-high six rebounds and added a block. Rudolph and Nyadaro led the team with four assists apiece. Rudolph hit on all categories with six steals. The senior from Clarksville was 9-for-15 from the field while fellow senior Daniels was 5-for-7 from the field. Henry was 3-for-6 from three-point range.

Jaime Smith led the Chargers with 20 points. UAH hit 54% (23-43) from the field, 50% (10-20) from three-point range, and hit all 10 free throws.

As a team Trevecca shot 50% (25-50) from the field, 28% (5-18) from three-point range, and 57% (4-7) from the foul line.

Trevecca won the second half 36-32 but the Trojans were outrebounded 29-19 for the game and saw the Chargers dominate bench points 17-0. Trevecca had the edge in points off of turnovers 18-16 and points in the paint 28-22.

Trevecca returns home to face NCAA Dll #18 Lincoln Memorial University Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Railsplitters are 2-0.
