Trevecca Routs Blue Mountain 84-62

Box Score BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - The Trevecca women's basketball team (5-9, 1-1 TranSouth) snapped a four-game losing streak with an 84-62 rout of Blue Mountain Saturday afternoon at Tyler Gymnasium.

"It's always good to get any win," said Trojan assistant Courtney Van Atta. "But to shoot as well as we did today and get the balance we did, is really a big confidence boost for the girls."

The Trojans shot 50% from the field and placed six players in double figures, while holding the Toppers to just 30% shooting and dominating the boards 53-39.

Rachel Raby and Anissa Ragland scored 17 points apiece to lead the Trojans, with Kayla Biles adding 16, Rachel Bollinger 12, and Anna Mitchell and Haley Felker 10 apiece.

"It felt good to get some shots to fall today," said Biles, who was 7-15 from the floor and added five rebounds. "I'm still trying to get my legs under me and get my conditioning back since I haven't played in a while, but things went well today and it was great to get the win."

"Kayla has struggled at times in practice just trying to keep up with what we're doing," added Van Atta. "But her confidence continues to grow, and today she played really well."

A three-pointer by the Toppers' Kati Prince opened the game, and the Trojans struggled to score early. But after Bollinger knocked down a three-pointer 4:11 into the game to give Trevecca a 4-3 lead, the Trojans never trailed again.

After leading 32-21 at halftime, the Trojans scored the first four points of the second half to push the lead to 15, and the Toppers never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Bollinger led the Trojans on the boards with nine, while Raby and Ragland added seven apiece.

Trevecca made 35-of-70 shots from the floor, but struggled from deep, making just 20% (4-20) from three-point range. The Trojans made 10-of-15 free throws. Blue Mountain shot 30% (20-67) from the field, 24% (8-33) from beyond the arc, and 56% (14-25) from the line.

"I'm really happy for the girls to get a nice win today," added Coach Van Atta. "And now we've got a few days of practice to get ready for our trip to Bethel on Thursday."

The Trojans play at No. 19 Bethel University (7-7, 0-1 TranSouth) Thursday night at 6 p.m. The game will be available on the Trojans' Game Central portal - watch the video live on your computer, phone, or other personal device.

Trevecca's next home game is on Saturday, January 14 when the Cumberland Bulldogs (3-9, 0-2 TranSouth) come in for a 2 p.m. contest. It is Crush Cumberland day presented by First Nazarene. Click here for more details.
