Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. No. 17 Trevecca (20-9, 11-5 TranSouth) concluded regular season play Saturday afternoon with a 71-54 win at Martin Methodist (16-14, 7-9). The win allows the Trojans to finish in a three-way tie for second place in the TranSouth Conference. It ties the highest finish in conference play for the Trojans.
The Trojans saw the RedHawks jump out to a early lead, but it was shor lived as Trevecca built an 11-point halftime lead - 31-20. Trevecca shot 48% (13-27) from the field in the first half. Trevecca continued to build their lead throughout the second half and defeated MMC 71-54.
Trevecca had four players score in double figures, led by
Abby Lawson and Lond Elie with 15 apiece.
K.C. Van Atta and
Chelsey Taylor each added 11 points.
Rachel Raby had a team-high six rebounds and added eight points and a block. Lawson added five rebounds, five assists, and a block. Jessy Christopher added a team-high 16 for the RedHawks.
Trevecca had a 29-28 advantage in rebounding and shot 48% (24-50) from the field, 33% (5-15) from 3-point range, and hit 75% (18-24) from the foul line.
The win is the 20th of the year for the Trojans and earns the Trojans a home game versus #5 seed Lyon College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Check the TranSouth website (www.transouth.org) for more details. The women's program has produced a 20-win season six years in a row.
Trevecca's opponent in the TranSouth Tournament Quarter Finals on Wednesday will be determined following a coin flip on Sunday. The coin flip will determine whether the Trojans will be the tournament's #3 or #4 seed. Trevecca and Bethel tied with Freed-Hardeman for second place in the TranSouth. Freed won the first tie-breaker and recieved the #2 seed. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3 at Trevecca's Moore Gym.
