Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. - The No. 13 Trevecca (14-5, 6-1) Trojans lost to No. 1 Union (21-1, 8-0) 98-71 in a battle for first place in the TranSouth.
Union has won nine in a row in the series and are 11-4 against Trevecca in the last five seasons.
This was the 36th meeting between Trevecca and Union in women's basketball. Union holds a 30-6 advantage in the series.
Union started the game with a 10-2 run and led 18-7 with 15:25 on the first half clock. Trevecca cut the Union edge to just five points (24-19) with 9:30 remaining. Union scored 11 straight to take a 15 point lead (35-20) at the 6:31 mark. Union pushed the lead to 18 (40-22) at the 5:05 mark. Union held a 51-35 lead at the break.
Kaitlin Dudley hit five first half 3-pointers on her way to 21 first half points for Union.
Abby Lawson led Trevecca with 12 first half points.
Trevecca cut the Union lead to 14 (55-41) with 18:29 to play, but the Bulldogs extended the lead to 22 (74-52) with 11:29 to go. As the teams went to their respective benches Union pulled away for a 98-71 win.

London Elie also added 13. Union shot 62% (39-63) from the field, 50% (12-24) from 3-point range, and 80% (8-10) from the foul line. Trevecca hit 44% (25-57) from the field, 33% (9-27) from 3-point range, and 67% (10-15) from the foul line.
Union won the first 12 games in the series, including four wins in the 70's when Trevecca fielded a team for three seasons. Trevecca's first win in the series was an 87-77 win at Union February 9, 2002. In fact, three of Trevecca's six wins in the series have come at Union's Fred Delay Gymnasium.
Trevecca's last win in the series was on January 6, 2007 at Moore Gym. Trevecca's last win at Union was on March 3, 2006 when the Trojans defeated the Bulldogs 75-62 in the TranSouth Tournament semifinals.
Trevecca will host Martin Methodist (12-8, 4-3) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
