NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - NAIA No. 13 Trevecca (14-4, 6-0 TSAC) defeated crosstown rival Fisk
University (3-11) 86-32 on Monday. Trevecca's KC Van Atta reached a
career milestone as the Trojans won for the ninth time in their last 10
outings.
Trevecca
opened the game with a 15-1 run and never looked back, despite Fisk
scoring nine in a row to make the score 26-16 midway through the first
half. Trevecca closed the half with a 18-2 run and led 44-18 at the
break. Chelsey Taylor scored 12 and Abby Lawson had nine first half
points.

Van Atta scored 13 of Trevecca's first 17 second half points to reach
the 1000 career point mark in just her junior season. She becomes the
10th member of the Lady Trojans 1000 point club. Current Trojan Abby
Lawson has more than 1500 career points.

Trevecca pushed their lead to 50 points (78-28) with 3:50 to go. Trevecca held on for the win and improved to 14-4 on the year.

Van
Atta led Trevecca with 17 points while Chelsey Taylor added 12 points
and Abby Lawson contributed 11 points. Rachel Raby led the team with 10
rebounds. Trevecca shot 35-74 (47%) from the field, 6-17 (35%) from
3-point range, and 10-11 (90%) from the foul line. .
Trevecca
is 3-0 versus Fisk in women's basketball. The teams will meet for a
third time this season when the Bulldogs visit Trevecca at Moore Gym on
February 20th. Trevecca defeated Fisk 99-44 on December 11 at the Rosa
Stokes Classic at Cumberland University.
Trevecca
will travel to Jackson, Tenn. to face No. 1 Union University (20-1, 7-0
TSAC) on Thursday, January 28 at 6 p.m. Union and Treveca are
undefeated in conference play and tied for the overall TranSouth lead.
