Tenn. - NAIA No. 9 Trevecca (24-6) opened play in the TranSouth
Athletic Conference Tournament with a Quarterfinal matchup with Martin
Methodist (19-12) on Wednesday. Trevecca the No. 3
seed hosted the sixth-seeded RedHawks. Jennifer Bognar tied the school
record for career rebounds. She now has 728, tying Lindsey Fly.

The
RedHawks came out hot and led 6-0 and 11-3 before the Trojans began to
close the gap. Trevecca closed the gap to 18-14 with 9:48 to go in the
first half. The RedHawks pulled ahead by 11 (30-19) though with a 12-5
run. Trevecca mounted a run of their own to close the MMC lead to just
two points (38-36) at the half. Trevecca tied the game at 38 early in
the second half and took the lead 41-40 on a pair of Abby Lawson free
throws with 15:50 to play. The visitors rallied again and put pressure
on the Trojans. The RedHawks would lead (50-49) from the 11:12 mark of
the second half until the Trojans gained the lead again (70-68) with
1:16 remaining in the game. Trevecca extended their lead to three on a
Christian Gibson free throw with 15 seconds remaining. Abby Lawson
sealed the game with a free throw with 4.4 seconds remaining.

Lawson led Trevecca with 18 points and added four rebounds. Vanessa
Pincheon had 14 points and four rebounds. Jennifer Bognar tied the
school record for career rebounds with five on the night. Trevecca shot
20-52 (38%) from the field, 4-22 (18%) from three point range, and
28-37 (76%) from the foul line. Trevecca outrebounded Martin Methodist
32-30. Trevecca had 27 turnovers to MMC's 17.
