Tenn. - NAIA No. 3 Trevecca (12-0) faced Covenant College (8-6) on Saturday in the Rosa Stokes Classic at Cumberland
University, taking the win 69-62.

Covenant hit the
first field goal of the game, taking the 3-0 lead, but behind the
shooting of
Casey Pigue, and the stifling defense of the Trojans, Trevecca used a
15-0 run to take the 15-3 lead. The Lady Scots pulled to within 10 late
in the
half, and a three-point field goal for Covenant made the halftime
margin nine, with the Trojans taking a 34-25 lead into the break. Early
in the
second half, it looked as though the Trojans might stretch the lead out
and win easily, but Covenant would not go away. The Lady Scots started
hitting
their shots, pulling to as close six on three different occasions,
before Casey Attebery salted the game away at the charity stripe,
giving the
Trojans the 69-62 win.

Jennifer Bognar
recorded a double-double, leading the Trojans with 19 points and 14
rebounds.
Abby Lawson chipped in 14 points and grabbed nine boards, earning MVP
honors for the classic. Bognar and K.C. Van Atta also earned
all-Classic
honors.
Casey Attebery dished out a team high six assists.

As a team, the Trojans shot 25-of-65 (38.5%) from the floor, 8-of-29 (27.6%) from long range,
and 11-of-13 (84.6%) from the foul line. The Trojans out-rebounded the Lady Scots 45-39.

The Trojans will break for the Holidays, returning to action January 3 when they host Bethel
College (9-3, 1-1) in a TranSouth matchup. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00.
Trevecca will return to action on January 3, 2009 when they return to conference play against
Bethel College (9-3, 1-1) at Moore Gym.
