Tracy Wilkins joined the Trevecca golf staff as Assistant Golf Coach prior to the 2019-20 season after serving as a volunteer coach at Trevecca for the 2018-19 season. Previously he served as a volunteer coach for the Middle Tennessee State University men’s golf program for two seasons.
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Wilkins served as Director of Golf for the City of Murfreesboro at Old Fort Golf Club from 1987–2017. During that time, he was recognized twice as Merchandiser of the Year and Golf Professional of the Year for the Middle Tennessee Section of the Tennessee PGA. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee PGA. During his tenure at Old Fort Golf Club, the course served as host to the TSSAA State High School Golf Championships for 17 years as well as Stage 1 of PGA Tour Qualifying School for eight years and numerous other prestigious tournaments over the years.
As a PGA member, Wilkins participated in local, state, and national golf tournaments during his 33+ years of service in Murfreesboro and Memphis. He was a member of the Tennessee PGA Cup Team on the professional side for numerous years. He has also had a successful teaching career, having been a mentor to a state high school champion and several players who have gone on to have successful college careers and professional careers.
In addition, Wilkins was an advocate for the development of junior golf programming and was instrumental in the development and construction of Bloomfield Links, a 6-Hole short course built on a demolition landfill in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Prior to being hired by the City of Murfreesboro, he was employed as the Assistant Golf Professional at Chickasaw Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee, from 1983–1986. He earned membership in the PGA of America in 1986.
A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Wilkins is a 1983 graduate of Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. While enrolled at Union University, he was a four-year member of the men’s golf team and was the first player from Union University to qualify for the NAIA National Golf Championship.
Wilkins graduated from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee in 1979 and was a member of the Men’s Golf Team for three years. In addition, he participated in local, state, and national junior golf tournaments during his junior career.
Wilkins and his wife Ann reside in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They have two children and three grandchildren.
