Reggie Nelson enters his first season as an assistant for the Trevecca Nazarene women’s basketball program since 2009-2010 when he previously served as a volunteer assistant for the men’s basketball program.
Nelson comes to Trevecca after spending last season on staff at Cumberland University.
Nelson’s stint in coaching is following a playing career that included seasons with the ABA Orlando Aces, CBA Oklahoma Cavaliers, PBL Quebec Montreal Sasquatch and the NBA D-League Indiana Mad Ants.
Nelson has been coaching for over 16 years at all levels (elementary, middle, high school, college and AAU basketball, girls and boys).
The Memphis, Tenn., native played basketball at Southern Illinois and Northwest Mississippi Junior College before finishing at Tennessee Tech, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Nelson has served as a teacher and basketball coach in the Atlanta Public School District, at Windy Hills Middle School in Clermont, Fla., the Lake County School District and the Nashville Public School District.
