John Mark Bell joined the Trevecca men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season. He brings nearly a decade of coaching experience, with a background in player development and offensive systems at the high school, club and homeschool levels.
Before joining Trevecca, Bell served as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Friendship Christian School and with Tennessee Heat. At Friendship Christian, he helped the Commanders compile a 76-44 record, win a district championship and reach the TSSAA state round of 12 for the first time in more than a decade.
With Tennessee Heat, Bell helped the program post a 100-55 record, win the 2026 NCHBC national championship, finish as national runner-up in 2025 and reach the Elite Eight in 2024.
Before Friendship Christian, Bell coached at Wilson Central High School and Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. As head of skill development at Hamilton Heights, he helped develop dozens of collegiate players and multiple professional athletes.
Bell has also coached with STARS Basketball Club on the UAA circuit, mentoring prospects pursuing collegiate opportunities.
A former collegiate basketball player, Bell competed for two seasons before beginning his coaching career as a student manager at Tennessee Tech University. There, he gained Division I experience in basketball operations, player development, scouting and daily program management.
His ties to Trevecca run deep. His father, Tim, is a member of the Trevecca Athletic Hall of Fame, earning All-American for the men’s basketball team. His sister, Kaci Britt Bell, was a standout on the women’s basketball team.
His experience as a player and coach shapes an approach centered on developing complete student-athletes through intentional relationships, accountability and daily improvement.
