Cyrus Booker joined the Trevecca coaching staff prior to the 2022-2023 season. The veteran coach brings playing and coach experience to the program, including as a head coach. He serves as the head coach of the Trevecca junior varsity women's basketball team.
He was a significant contributor to taking a five-win Trojan team in 2021-2022, the year before he and then head coach Karen Booker arrived on the Hill, to a 22-win team in their first season. Those first-year accolades include an appearance in the conference finals and the programs first bid to the NCAA Championships. At the championships, the Trojans picked up a win before falling to the eventual undefeated national champion, Ashland University, on their home court in the regional.
Coach C grew up in Williamson County, TN, where he attended Franklin High School. The National Merit Scholar and National Honor Society Member averaged 16 points and 16 rebounds per game as a senior. His academic and athletic credentials took him to Harvard University, where he averaged 10.2 points per game as a senior, shooting 48.4% from the field. In addition, he earned Best Defensive Player.
For two seasons (1983-84, 1984-85), he assisted the basketball program at Fisk University. After a long hiatus from coaching, he returned to Fisk as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach from 2019 to 2022. During his final year he added serving as the JV Head Coach.
Following college, Booker pursued a law degree at Georgetown University Law School. With a law degree in hand, Booker became the first African-American Associate and later first African-American Partner at any of Nashville's ten largest law firms. He's been an Adjunct Faculty Member at Vanderbilt Law School and the Nashville School of Law. Booker was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1992. He has been a member of the Nashville (Board of Directors, 1990-93), American, National (Regional Director, 1987), Federal (Vice-President, 1990-91), and Napier-Looby (President, 1987; Board of Directors, 2017) Bar Associations.
Booker is the father of two - Damali (1978-2002) and Omari. His wife, Lillian Booker, is a 2003 graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University.
