Andrew Lovejoy joined the Trevecca Nazarene University golf program prior to the 2024-25 season and serves as the assistant golf coach for both the men and women's teams.
Coach Head said of Lovejoy joining the program, “I’m excited that Andrew Lovejoy joined our coaching staff at Trevecca. His experience as a college player at the NCAA DI level and his desire to learn all aspects of the coaching profession make him a great addition. Our teams will benefit tremendously from the talents Andrew brings to our program.”
Prior to coming to the Hill, Lovejoy served as a substitute teacher for the Humble (Texas) Independent School District. It is the school district he attended most of his childhood. In addition to teaching, he served as an assistant coach for the Walden Wavez, a local summer league swim team, since 2018. It is a program he competed with for nine years before joining the coaching staff as an assistant in 2018.
His experience as both a substitute teacher and an assistant coach revealed his true calling of having an positive impact on students in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
He attended Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where he graduated from in 2023, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Government and Politics. While at Millsaps, he played four years of collegiate golf and one year of collegiate swim.
His time at Millsaps was instrumental to his career path. His head coach mentored him the final two years, giving him a glimpse of what it takes to coach collegiate golf.
His parents also played a role, as they both played collegiate athletics at Springfield College and became coaches. Growing up I went to numerous practices my parents were running and watched them coach and be a positive role model for the athletes they were coaching. They have pushed me to be the best person I can be and are the reasons why I love athletics and coaching so much.
