When Trevecca Nazarene University Athletic Director Mark Elliott announced the re-establishment of the TrojanĀ cheerleading for the 2021-2022 season, he also named Lexi Laucirica to lead the restart of the TreveccaĀ cheerĀ program. The university paused the program following the 2015-2016 school year.Ā Ā

"We are happy to announce we are re-establishing a long-standing tradition of our Trojan cheer team," said Mark Elliott. "Lexi Laucirica has the vision to build a spirited program that will lead the Trojan Nation and Purple Pride."

"In the past, people like Carolyn Smith, Marylou Del Rio, Janice Reid, Lora Donoho, Debbie Lore, Susan Harris, Sarah Miller, Julie Conley, Rebecca Hansen, Denise Boone,Ā and many others gave much effort to create a proud legacy. We want to build on their past labors and make them proud."Ā

Coach Laucirica said, "I am looking for athletes who will bring spirit to athletics and our campus on the Hill. This first year is important to build a culture for the program, even during a challenging year we are all facing."Ā

Coach Laucirica established a squad for the spring semester, but those interested in joining the new start program next year can email coach LauciricaĀ ARLaucirica@trevecca.edu.Ā  Ā  Ā

The newly selected team begins its first full season during the Fall 2021 semester.Ā Ā

Coach Laucirica added, "Cheerleaders who fit our program will work hard, represent Trevecca well, and be a light on campus. We will work to bring the student body together to support our athletes and one another."Ā

"Cheerleading brought so much joy to me as an athlete, and I am so excited for the opportunity to give the same experience to other athletes," Laucirica concluded.Ā

Laucirica is from West Palm Beach, Florida, where she attended Wellington High School. There sheĀ cheered competitively for the Wellington Cougars all-star program.Ā

Following high school, Laucirica attended Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where sheĀ cheered for the SEU Fire basketball and football teams.Ā

She graduated from SEU with a degree in sports management and a minor in coaching and physical education.Ā Ā

Laucirica started her athletics career in 2016 when she moved to Nashville to serve as the operations coordinator at Lipscomb University. She moved to Cumberland University, where she worked in enrollment for two years and completed a master's in sports management.Ā Ā

In 2019 Laucirica joined Premier Athletics as a coach with their all-star program. She will continue to coach there while taking on the new role at Trevecca.Ā Ā
