NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team continued Gulf South Conference play Friday afternoon, dropping a doubleheader to in-state rival Lee University at the Trevecca Softball Complex. The Trojans move to 17-16 overall (13-16 GSC), while Lee improves to 19-32 overall (10-18 GSC) after the two-game sweep.
Series History
Friday's contests marked the 65th and 66th all-time meetings between the two programs in a series dating back to May 2, 1992. Lee has long controlled the series and, with today's results, extended its all-time lead to 47-19. The Flames are now 18-7 all-time in Nashville. Prior to last season, Trevecca had won five consecutive meetings, but Lee took two of three in Cleveland last year and continued that momentum with Friday's sweep.
Lee 13, Trevecca 6 (Game 1)
Trevecca showed early offensive firepower, building a lead behind a strong third inning. The Trojans plated three runs in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from
Kyleigh Burgett and a two-run single from
Addy Grace Summers to take a 5-2 lead.
Burgett continued her strong performance with a solo home run earlier in the game, while Summers led the Trojans with three hits and two RBI.
Shay Hollingsworth added two hits and an RBI, and
Annabelle Ellis contributed a pair of hits as Trevecca totaled 11 hits offensively.

Trevecca struck first in the nightcap with a solo home run from
Annabelle Ellis, giving the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.Ellis' home run accounted for Trevecca's only run, while
Addy Grace Summers led the offense with two hits.
Sarah Nicholson,
Bailey Goad, and
Raegan Hunter each added hits as the Trojans finished with seven.
Trevecca continued to battle at the plate, putting together multiple-hit innings and creating scoring opportunities throughout the contest.

Following Saturday's contest, the Trojans will host the top team in the Gulf South Conference, Auburn University Montgomery, for the final series of the regular season.
