NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team completed a Gulf South Conference sweep Saturday afternoon, defeating Delta State 8-2 at the Trevecca Softball Complex.
With the win, the Trojans improved to 15-13 overall (9-12 GSC) and secured their first series sweep of the season over Delta State, who fell to 12-29 overall (6-18 GSC).
Series History
Saturday's finale marked the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to 2014. Building off Friday's results, Trevecca extended its dominance in the series, improving to 9-1 all-time against Delta State.
The Trojans have now won three straight in the series this weekend and continue to control the matchup heading into future meetings.
Trevecca 8, Delta State 2
Trevecca jumped out early and never looked back, using a big first inning and another dominant performance in the circle.
The Trojans struck for four runs in the opening frame. After Addy Grace Summers and Shay Hollingsworth reached base, Sarah Kinderdine delivered the biggest swing of the game with a grand slam to center field, giving Trevecca an immediate 4-0 lead.
Trevecca added two more runs in the second inning as Annalise Mecklenburg drove in a pair with a single to extend the lead to 6-0.
In the circle, Bailey Goad continued her outstanding stretch, earning the win to improve to 10-5 on the season. She threw her ninth complete game of the year and third consecutive complete game, allowing just two runs while keeping Delta State in check throughout.
Goad also contributed at the plate, launching a solo home run in the sixth inning to cap the scoring for the Trojans.
Trevecca continued to get contributions throughout the lineup. Kyleigh Burgett added an RBI double, while Shay Hollingsworth and Addy Grace Summers each reached base multiple times to keep pressure on Delta State's defense.

Trevecca hits the road for a three-game Gulf South Conference series against University of Alabama-Huntsville.The Trojans will open the series on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
