SMYRNA, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene University softball (2-0) opened the 2026 season and the 2026 Music City Invitational with two wins over Ashland University (0-2). The Trojans beat the Eagles 10-1 in the first game and 15-0 in the second. Trevecca won both games in five innings.
Brianna Asmondy combined to hit .600 on the day and drove in five RBI, going 3-for-5 at the plate with three runs, a double, a triple, and a home run. She added a walk and a stolen base.
Bailey Goad served notice in her collegiate debut at the plate and in the circle. At the plate, Goad hit .800 on the day with a double, triple, four runs, three RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases in three attempts. Her on-base percentage was .714, and her slugging percentage was 1.400. In the circle, the freshman picked up the win (1-0) against Ashland in game two, pitching a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts while allowing two hits and a walk.

GM 1: Ashland 1, Trevecca 10
The Eagles scored a run in the first to take the lead. The Trojans responded with a five-run bottom of the first to take control of the game. In the inning, Sarah Kinderdine singled to drive in Bailey Goad. Shay Hollingsworth singled in Kinderdine. Brianna Asmondy cracked the game open with a three-run home run. TNU added a three-run third inning. In the fourth, Kinderdine homered, and Asmondy drove in Hollingsworth with a triple.
Circle / Box Notes
Parker Herrin (1-0) earned the win in the circle with a complete-game, five-inning victory. Herrin gave up one unearned run and walked one.
Asmondy went 3-for-3 with a run scored and five RBI and was a single shy of hitting for the cycle — double, triple, three-run home run.
GM 2: Ashland 0, Trevecca 15
Trevecca scored five in the first, highlighted by a two-run single from Sarah Kinderdine. A five-run third erased any doubt about the outcome. Two doubles in the fourth from Bailey Goad and Annalise Mecklenburg pushed across four more runs.
Circle / Box Notes
The Trojans delivered four doubles, four stolen bases, and a total of 14 hits.

On day two of the Music City Invitational, the Trojans take on two familiar foes from their days in the G-MAC, Kentucky Wesleyan (1-1) at 10:30 a.m. and Tiffin University (0-2) at 12:30 p.m.
Trevecca leads the all-time series with KWC 29-13 and has won the last nine and 15 of the last 16. Trevecca leads the series with Tiffin 9-3 and has won the last two in the series.
