OXFORD, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (28-19, 16-17 GSC) saw its season come to a close on Thursday in a 3-2 loss to Mississippi College (36-17, 20-13 GSC) in Game 9 of the 2025 Gulf South Conference Championship at Choccolocco Park.

With the loss, Trevecca falls behind 0-5 against Mississippi College historically as the Choctaw's sweep the Trojans this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED – TNU 2, MC 3
Trevecca jumped on the board quickly in the top of the first, when
Brianna Asmondy launched a solo home run to center field—her 13th of the season.
Mississippi College responded in the second inning with a two-run single by Brookelyn Cannon, followed by a solo home run from Megan Matheis in the third to take a 3-1 lead.
Asmondy struck again in the top of the fourth, sending her 14th home run of the year over the left-center fence to cut the deficit to one. Trevecca threatened in later innings but was unable to break through against MC pitcher Madison Jenkins.
The Trojans left four runners stranded in the game and were out-hit 7-4.
CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES

Ashlan Sensing pitched all six innings, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and one walk while striking out seven on 95 pitches.

Brianna Asmondy went 2-for-2 with two solo home runs, accounting for both Trevecca runs.

Madison Pruitt and
Kylie Chetakian recorded the other hits for the Trojans.

SEASON RECAP
Trevecca concludes its season at 28-19 overall and 16-17 in the GSC. The Trojans won a GSC tournament game for the first time in program history and had two players—
Ashlan Sensing and
Brianna Asmondy—named to the All-GSC First Team.
Sensing was also recognized as the 2025 GSC Pitcher of the Year, while Asmondy finished the season with 14 home runs and a conference-leading slugging percentage.
The Trojans opened the season ranked No. 17 nationally and rose as high as No. 9 after a 9-0 start that included wins over top-10 opponents.
