NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's cross country team is picked to finish ninth of 11 teams in the 2024 Gulf South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
It is the first season for the Trojans in the Gulf South Conference following their 11-year run in the Great Midwest.
Lee University is the two-time defending champion and predicted to win an seventh championship in 2024. The Flames return Owen Pearce, who placed sixth overall in last year's GSC Championship meet.
Trevecca, fielding one of its deepest rosters in several seasons, will be led by several strong returners including Shane West and Caden Meeks.
Eleven of the 18-man roster are freshman as Caleb Hinson from Prosper, Texas is expected to contribute early among the first year student-athletes while teammates Moritz Freyer, from Anger, Germany, and Mathais Cheboi, from Nakuru, Kenya, also expected to make noise.
The Trojans host two meets this year. The Trevecca Opener on September 7 and the Michael Pretorious Invitational on September 28. The first trip to the Gulf South Championships come on October 26 in Valdosta, Ga. at the Valdosta State XC Course.
