NASHVILLE – The Gulf South Conference named Trevecca men's cross country runner
Joshua Novotny as the league's Freshman of the Week on Wednesday.
Novotny, a freshman from Pleasant View, Tennessee, completed the Michael Pretorius Invitational in 27:21.0 for an average mile pace of 5:30.2 over the just under 5-mile course at Vaughn's Gap.
Due to Hurricane Helene, Novotny navigated an extremely wet course with light rain throughout to finish fifth overall.
With two NCAA Division I squads in the field, the Trojans finished second overall just three points back from Montevallo.
Novotny's personal record over the 8K distance was set at the Rhodes Invite where he finished the course in 26:36.2.
