NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Trojans (0-1) opened their season on Wednesday afternoon against Covenant College (1-0), falling to the Lady Scots 3-1.
Heather Halstead opened the scoring in first half the with a goal in her first game as a Trojan. Halstead took a great feed from Kassie Evick and buried it behind Covenant's Sarah Willams to give Trevecca the 1-0 lead. Just moments later, Covenant answered when Lydia Jones put a loose ball past Trojan Keeper Amy Maslyn to tie it up, and at the break, the game was tied 1-1.
Midway through the second half, Kasey Craft finished off a feed from Desiree Robinson to give the Lady Scots the 2-1 advantage, and Kalie Estrada added an insurance marker with time winding down to provide the final margin of 3-1.
Maslyn looked solid in the net in her first start for the Trojans, recording seven saves to keep her team in the game, while Sarah Williams started and played most of the match between the pipes for the Lady Scots, before being replaced late by Bethany Holman.
Trevecca will visit Tennessee Temple on Tuesday, September 2nd at 4 p.m.
